Have you heard that SEO can help your website get more free traffic, but you’re unsure what to do or even where to start? You’re in the right place. Today we’re going to talk about how to learn SEO for beginners.
SEO or search engine optimization can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to. It’s honestly much easier than you may fear right now. Once you understand how it works and what to do for it on your website or blog, you’ll be ready to get results.
And if you’ve tried SEO but haven’t gotten results before, read the post because it will explain what to do so you get results next time.
SEO stands for search engine optimization. It’s a free digital marketing channel. When you optimize a website or blog (or even your social media profiles) for the search engine, you make it easier for it to understand what your content is about.
And when the search engine understands your information better, it’s more likely to show your website, blog, or even social profile to searchers interested in the information you share.
SEO is your chance to let Google and other search engines know what your content is about. It’s your chance to say, hey, I write about X, and then Google takes note of that, so in the future, when someone is searching for information on X, they’re more likely to say, “oh, I know this website over here is about X, I’ll show it to you.”
When Google shows a website or blog to someone in the search results, they bold the words the person searched, so if they searched X and you have X in your SEO elements (more on what those are in a minute), then it will show up in bold so the searcher knows they can find the information they need there.
Now that you understand how SEO works, you probably want to learn how to do SEO on your website or blog. There are different ways to learn SEO, but honestly, the easiest and fastest way will be to take an SEO course that walks you through what to do step-by-step and teaches you what to do and what NOT to do because there are rules you don’t want to break, or you’ll hurt your SEO.
I offer free resources to help you get started, including my free SEO Content Quick Start Guide, which will teach you the SEO elements and how to create them for your website. It also includes an SEO checklist you can use for every page or blog post you create to make sure you’ve done the SEO right.
Finally, I have Simple SEO Content, my entire SEO Content training course that teaches you exactly what to do for content and SEO on your website or blog. I walk you through the process step-by-step so you learn what type of content to create, how to write it faster, and what to do to optimize it, so people find it and come to your website.
SEO can feel intimidating or overwhelming when you try to learn it on your own. Some mistakes are commonly made, especially around keyword choice, which often is why people try SEO and don’t get results.
If you want to ensure you learn how to do it right from the beginning, so you get the benefits faster, then you’ll want to take a class like SimpleSEO Content.
There are YouTube videos and blog posts about SEO – heck, you’re reading one right now but if you want to make this process faster, easier, more efficient, and more profitable, take a course with someone who knows how to teach it in an easy-to-understand way.
You want SEO to make sense because this is one of the most powerful marketing channels. Once it clicks, your opportunities are endless.
Every new blog post or website page you create that’s properly optimized and follows best practices is another opportunity to drive free traffic to your website for years to come.
