What is Search Engine Optimization? Search engine optimization, or SEO, is a series of steps you take on a website or blog to make it easier for Google to understand your website or blog.
If you have a website, you’ll want to optimize every page you want Google to show to a potential customer. You do SEO to help drive more traffic to your website pages and make it easier for new customers to find you.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) involves choosing a keyword for each page and using that keyword in specific SEO elements on the page.
Google is more likely to show a website with good SEO when someone searches for a keyword because Google looks for keywords in specific elements (those listed in #3 above) to help understand what website pages and blog posts are about. When you optimize your website, you generally get more traffic, which means more leads and sales for your business.
A website that’s got SEO on it and done right is more likely to rank high in Google’s search results, and the higher you rank, the more traffic you get. On average, the website that shows up in position #1 gets 37% of all the visits. If you can rank in position #1 for 10 keywords related to your business, you can get more traffic. Imagine what would happen if you ranked #1 for hundreds or even thousands of keywords potential customers searched when looking for products or services like yours? You could make a lot more money without having to buy ads.
SEO won’t work overnight, but it’s a long-term investment. When you create great content and optimize it for Google, it helps your customers and gets seen by more people. It can take 12 months or so to start seeing big results from your Search Engine Optimization efforts, but it can go on forever once it starts to work.
